Hi, [Beverly Beach Volunteer Services Lead].

So this was meant to be a little playful but respectful of course. Hopefully it didn't land wrong. 🙃

Take care.
Sam

Hey [Beverly Beach Volunteer Services Lead],

So thank you for your email. I'm going to attach some photos of myself - a way of saying hello, showing off my piercings, and making sure you never forget me. 🙃

I know you rangers freak out over public records. But I think authenticity is important, and I'm giving my energy to your agency. That's not something I compartmentalize. You get all of me.

I wouldn't want to come to Beverly Beach earlier if it meant I couldn't be there October to December. So I was hoping you had other projects in your MU - this is still unclear to me.

I would ask a favor. I reached out to the VSLs at South Beach and Nehalem. If you'd be willing to put in a word for me, maybe they would consider me more seriously. I understand you don't know me yet, but you will, that's an inevitability, and even the most casual comment would help put me on their radar.

I'm ready to head north.
[Volunteer Services Lead], the VSL here, updated OPRIS already, but thank you.

Sam 😎

Sam,

I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your tour of our park and MU! It really is a special location so its great to hear that its validated.

That’s great you were able to get a new piercing, I know the eye can be a sensitive place for new ones so that makes sense as to why its black now!

I will keep you in mind if we have any cancellations between now and October, but as of today I have a full schedule! Of course, that could change at any time and I will reach out to you if anything comes up 😊

I will update you contact information, do you want me to change it on your hosting profile as well? That way other VSL’s can contact you correctly too!

Hi [Beverly Beach Volunteer Services Lead],

I visited your lovely park today—and it was lovely.

I met [Park staff] briefly, and we had a really nice moment. If she mentions me to you (I suspect she might) and also mentions my black eye (haha), it’s just from a new eyebrow piercing. No fights involved! (grin) I clocked her nosering, so I’m guessing she already figured that out.

I explored the park, the welcome center, and spent over an hour tracing the tide on the beach. It felt like alignment. I can already tell this place will be an important chapter for me. October feels so far away now!

I wanted to ask—if you have other parks or day-use areas in your management unit, and there’s space for me sooner, I’d love to be considered. I’d honor that opportunity with hard work and genuine presence. No pressure, just putting it out there in case it aligns.

Also, I have a new phone number and wanted to pass that along:

Thanks,

Sam (40423)

P. S. This is my main email (rsw@rswfire.com). I accidentally emailed you from rswfire@outlook.com and our conversation just flowed from there, but want to try to correct that now. Hope you're doing great!

Hi, [Beverly Beach Volunteer Services Lead].

I sent this in the morning before our interview.

I'll have my phone situation sorted this weekend - it's a "nomad issue." My card expired and I didn't realize it until it was too late and then getting a new one sent to Oregon was a challenge! 🙃

Eventually I'm going to try to establish residency here.

It was great talking to you today (really, not just being polite) and I look forward to seeing you in October!

Sam

Good morning, [Beverly Beach Volunteer Services Lead].

I am having an issue with my phone. I can still meet today, but I'll need to call you directly from the welcome center. Please let me know if this works for you.

Hello, [Beverly Beach Volunteer Services Lead].

Thank you for getting back to me. I am available anytime that day (it's one of my days off at Honeyman). I'll accept any time that works for you. I just need to know in advance so I can drive up to one of our day use areas (my cell doesn't work on the campground). Look forward to hearing from you!

Sam

Hi there Sam!

I would love to talk about the opportunity with you more in greater length when I return from a work training (starting next Monday-Friday). If there is a time that works best for you on the 20th of February, that is when I am holding a couple other interviews. Anytime aside from 9-10am is available for that, up until 4:30pm. Send me an email about times and I’ll throw it into my calendar.

Thanks Sam!

Hello,

I just thought I would send a follow-up to this email. I'm still actively working out my schedule for the year. I've now added Humbug Mountain for May and June! And I'd very much love to spend the winter at Beverly Beach. Hoping to hear from you.

Hello,

My name is Sam, and I’m writing to express my interest in the volunteer welcome center position at Beverly Beach from October to December.

I arrived on the Oregon Coast in October, starting in Brookings, and have been making my way north along Highway 101. Along the way, I’ve fallen in love with the area, especially the state parks. This month, I began volunteering at Tugman State Park, and I’ll be continuing my journey at Honeyman State Park in February and March, working in the welcome center.

As a freelance programmer, I bring a strong work ethic, adaptability, and problem-solving skills to my roles. My boss here, [Tugman Volunteer Services Lead], has said she will be a reference for me if you'd like to speak to her.

Thank you for considering my application. I would be honored to contribute to Beverly Beach and support its mission.

Sincerely,

Sam (Host 40423)
