Greetings Robert Samuel White,

Thank you for applying to be a volunteer with Oregon State Parks! Your application has been uploaded to our statewide volunteer database and you have been assigned a volunteer ID number. It is important to keep your volunteer ID number(s) accessible as it is used to look up your profile and verify training requirements. Please keep in mind that you must complete several more steps before officially being accepted into the volunteer program. The steps are detailed below.

*Note - Please continue working with [Tugman Volunteer Services Lead] as you may have already completed some of the steps below.

The volunteer ID(s) associated with your volunteer profile is 40423

Please be aware that host positions will have different duties and can be competitive at popular parks, especially during peak seasons. Your placement in a host position depends upon several factors; including your availability, the time of year you apply, and which locations you prefer to volunteer. By expanding your availability and flexibility of park locations, you'll have more opportunities.

So...what's next?

It's time to sign up for a park assignment! You can do this in several ways:

First time signing up:

1. View the OPRD volunteer opportunities webpage by clicking here<https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=getinvolved.volunteer-openings> (https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=getinvolved.volunteer-openings). This is the most efficient and effective method to view open and active volunteer recruitments.
2. Reach out to a specific park to seek out future opportunities if they aren't posted on the webpage.

*After you've completed the onboarding process with your first assignment, you can also:

3. Sign up to receive email alerts for last minute park host openings. Sometimes parks need help filling vacancies due to last minute cancellations. You'll find the link to sign up for email alerts on the OPRD Volunteer Voice webpage by clicking here<https://sites.google.com/view/oprdvolunteervoice/volunteer-opportunities-projects> (https://sites.google.com/view/oprdvolunteervoice/volunteer-opportunities-projects).
4. Once you've developed a relationship with a park, they may reach out to you directly by phone or email to fill vacancies. Additionally, park staff may do a search in the volunteer database to find hosts that best match the needs of the park for a particular assignment.

Once you've been scheduled for your first assignment, you'll go through the onboarding process with the park. This process is completed when you initially sign up and then every January thereafter. It includes:

1. Background check and driving history check.
2. Statewide harassment and discrimination training.
3. Statewide safety training.
4. Volunteer Service Agreement.

*With each assignment, park staff will provide you with a volunteer job description explaining required tasks and duties.

At each park, you can expect to:

1. Attend an orientation.
2. Receive site-specific training on duties assigned.
3. Receive keys, handbooks, equipment and resources to perform duties.

*Volunteer uniforms, an en route pass and your host sign will be provided at your first park location. You will keep these for each assignment thereafter. En route passes are renewed each year during annual registration.

In the meantime, should you have any changes to your application, please email us at park.info@oregon.gov.
