With my family far away, I didn’t have plans myself, so I made an impulsive trip to Tugman State Park to check out the campground. I briefly met one of the park rangers (I believe it was John) to make sure it was okay.

I didn’t stay long, but I walked all three loops, checked out the shower facilities, and explored the day-use area trail. It gave me a great sense of the space and the opportunities ahead.

I wanted to share that I’m eager to commit to volunteering for three months, January through March, if you’ll have me that long. I understand the first month is probationary, and I’d love to demonstrate my fit for this role. While I’m likely
to move on after March to explore other opportunities heading north along the 101, I’d love to return the following year as part of a circuit.

These three months will allow me to fully transition into the nomadic lifestyle I’ve been adopting while contributing to the park. Having a steady routine close to Coos Bay will be invaluable as I work through some logistical challenges and
embrace this chapter of my journey.

I’m also starting to explore recreational opportunities in the area and am curious about the dunes (and dune buggies!) as well as moderately difficult ocean trails. It looks like a beautiful spot to immerse myself in nature.

On a practical note, I wanted to check that my name placard will read "Sam" and not "Robert" (I go by my middle name). Also, I noticed some tree debris in Loop C during my visit—I'd be happy to help clear that if it’s still there when I return.
